Safety & Care

Please read this before your baby wears anything we make. It takes a minute.

What this product is for

Our wraps are for cuddles, prams and photographs, while your baby is awake and with you. That is the whole intended use, and we have designed and described the product around it.

What it is not for

  • Never for sleep. This is not a sleep product, it is not tested or intended as one, and it must not be used as one.
  • Never unsupervised. An adult must be present and attentive the entire time it is on.
  • Never in a cot, crib, bassinet, car seat or pram while your baby is unattended. Always remove a loose wrap before putting your baby down and stepping away.

Loose yarn on a newborn is an entanglement and suffocation risk. We would rather lose a sale than have you learn that from anyone other than us.

Before every use

  • Check the two wooden buttons. Tug them gently. If either has loosened, stop using the piece and email us — we will repair or replace it.
  • Check the stitching for any snag, pull or loop that has come long enough for a finger, toe or neck to pass through.
  • Check the fit. Nothing should be tight around the neck or face, and the hood must never cover your baby's nose or mouth.

While it is on

  • Keep your baby's face visible and clear at all times.
  • Watch for overheating — a hand on the back of the neck is the usual check. Crochet cotton is warmer than it looks, and a photography session under lights is warmer again.
  • Take it off as soon as the cuddle, the walk or the photograph is finished.

Stop using it if

  • a button is loose, chipped or missing;
  • the yarn has pulled into a loop longer than a couple of centimetres;
  • a seam has opened; or
  • your baby has outgrown it to the point where anything pulls tight.

Email hello@softseason.store with a photograph and we will repair it or remake it. We would far rather do that than have you keep using a piece you are unsure about.

Washing and care

  • Hand wash cool with a mild detergent. No bleach.
  • Do not machine wash and do not tumble dry. Both will felt and distort the stitch, and it will not come back.
  • Do not wring. Press the water out gently between two towels.
  • Lay flat to dry, out of direct sun. Reshape it while it is damp.
  • Do not iron. If it needs relaxing, steam it from a distance.
  • Store it flat and dry. Hanging it will stretch the shoulders out of shape.

Materials

Soft cotton yarn, crocheted by hand in Narsapur, Andhra Pradesh, India, with two wooden buttons. Nothing is glued, nothing is coated, and there are no removable small parts other than the buttons, which are stitched through.

If something goes wrong
